Maria Seipel (b. 1989) is a graphic designer and product designer with in-depth studies of the book format. Heart and mind is driven by curiosity for people, their/our behaviour, thus the relation to an object or subject. Interested in tweaking experiences in order to find this 'new', whether it is visual communication, an object to hold in your hand or a visit to an exhibition space.

I gained my MFA in Design from HDK – Academy of Design and Crafts, Gothenburg, in 2015. My Master Thesis work Approaching the Book as Matter won recognition in two of Sweden’s biggest competitions for young designers, Ung Svensk Form (2016) and Kolla! (2016).

In the autumn of 2016 I moved to Älmhult (the heart of IKEA) where I began my designer internship. I got to design a few products that you find in IKEA stores all over the world. VATTENKRASSE, PEPPARKORN and LILLSVAN all started as pencil drawings on my desk. I also co-designed SAXBORGA.

Today, I work at IKEA Communications with all things visual communication. I enjoy the multi-media landscape of today and being part of a highly creative workplace is truly the best.
